Just before Spencer Tunick's evening installation on 17th July 2005, the tide turned and for a brief time slack water provided a beautiful reflection of Baltic. The sun at last broke through the clouds for a moment. The surreal effect is enhanced by the complete absence of people.

Spencer Tunick and Topsy Qur'et

Taken when Spencer joined particpants in the Piano and Pitcher, moments after the successful evening installation televised live on BBC 3 on 17th July 2005. With him is Newcastle based performance artist Topsy Qur'et. Topsy lives in Byker Wall and has made work about the regeneration of the Quayside. Baltic is visible across the river.

The scarab beetle (symbol of Renewal and Endurance) is made up of Sage, Baltic, Tyne and Millenium Bridges. All are visible in the background from this position in the Ouseburn Valley.
